Making or amending your Will with GoodyBurrett

Whether your affairs are simple or complex, the team here can advise you on the options available to you when preparing your Will.
When planning for the future, it is always important to have an up-to-date Will in accordance with your current wishes and to ensure that your estate passes to those individuals you choose.

Do I need a Will?

If in the event you do not create a Will, then your estate will be distributed under the rules of Intestacy, which dictates what and who will deal with your estate.
How can I make a Will with GoodyBurrett?

Please do give us a call at the Colchester office on 01206 577676 or our Dunmow office on 01371 873277. Any email enquiries can be sent to [email protected]
We can then arrange a mutually convenient time for a Will appointment, whether that be attending the office in our outdoor space, telephone or Zoom call.

What do I need for my first appointment?

It would be very helpful to have an idea of your assets and names of your intended Executors and Beneficiaries. However, we will go through everything in detail at our appointment.

What happens next?

After your initial appointment with one of our team, based on your instructions, we will then provide you with a draft copy of your Will for you to consider before we finalise matters at our Will signing meeting. It may be the case that upon receiving your draft copy that there are a few further amendments to be made.
Once you are happy with your draft, your Will is ready to be signed and witnessed. When signing your Will, this must be signed and dated in the presence of two independent adult witnesses. We will then store your original Will in our storage facility at no additional cost to you. Your Will is then legally effective and finalised.

How much does a Will cost?

We offer a fixed price for a straightforward Will. However, if your affairs are more complex and you need tax planning advice or inclusion of Trusts, then there will be a slight increase in cost, but we will make you aware of this at the outset. Each individual Will is drafted to your own needs and circumstances.

We understand how common a task it is to put drafting a Will off and something to perhaps consider in the future. However, once your Will is in place this not only ensures that your family and loved ones are provided for, but it gives you peace of mind that your affairs are in order.
