Full time Private Client Solicitor / Legal Executive with 1+ years’ PQE

GoodyBurrett is a well-established law firm in Colchester town centre. We were awarded the Indie Service Business of the Year 2023 at the Colchester Business Awards.

We have an opportunity for a full-time Private Client Solicitor or qualified Legal Executive to join our team.  The ideal candidate will ideally possess a minimum of 1 years PQE to join our busy department. The successful candidate will take on an existing caseload and look to develop it.

This is a full-time, permanent role based in Colchester. We are looking for the successful applicant to work in the office with perhaps one day from home once they are settled. Being office based is important to our clients as they attend the office and integral to providing a professional but personal service.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1-years’ experience of Wills, Probate and LPA’s
  • Desirable to have experience in dealing with Court of Protection work
  • Must be able to handle own caseload of clients with some supervision
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all clients
  • Possess good organisational skills
  • Have excellent time management skills
  • Desire to develop and expand client base
  • IT knowledge and interest
  • Good standard of written and spoken English
  • Self-motivated

Conveyancing Secretary with 2 years + recent experience

Are you a Conveyancing Legal Secretary looking for a new role?

GoodyBurrett are a well-established law firm based in Colchester town centre. We are seeking a full-time Conveyancing Legal Secretary to provide secretarial support in the Residential and Commercial Conveyancing department. Due to the nature of the work, they will be office based. The position is to start 4th December 2023.

The successful candidate will need to possess the following skills:

  • At least two year’s recent experience in conveyancing;
  • An understanding of the conveyancing process with the ability to work on their own initiative. For example, to put searches in hand, set up the file, request Land Registry searches and deal with the usual post exchange and completion matters;
  • digital audio typing skills;
  • accuracy and attention to detail;
  • the ability to work as part of a team;
  • diary management;
  • providing all other ad-hoc secretarial duties; and
  • be fully conversant in MS Office.

This is a full-time position, the hours are 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday with one hour lunch break.

This is an excellent full-time position for a Legal Secretary.

Part-time Family Solicitor or qualified Legal Executive – 3 years + PQE

GoodyBurrett is a well-established law firm in Colchester town centre. We were awarded the Indie Service Business of the Year 2023 at the Colchester Business Awards.

We have an opportunity for a part-time Family Solicitor or qualified Legal Executive to join our team.  The ideal candidate will ideally possess a minimum of 3 years PQE to join and develop our busy family department.  We would also be interested in hearing from candidates of a more senior level.

This is a part-time, permanent role based in Colchester. We are looking for the successful applicant to work a minimum of 3 days (9am – 5pm) initially based in the office.

Features:

  • Involves private family work, predominantly matrimonial
  • Dealing with enquiries, speaking with clients and other parties
  • Providing legal advice to clients on divorce, financial agreements, separation agreements and Children Act proceedings
  • Identifying and developing potential client relationships
  • Developing and expanding the Family department
  • Career progression/long term prospects

 

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3-years’ experience of Family Law
  • Must be able to handle own caseload of clients with minimal supervision.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all clients
  • Possess good organisational skills
  • Have excellent time management skills
  • Willingness to carry out own advocacy is advantage
  • Desire to develop and expand client base
  • IT knowledge and interest
  • Good standard of written and spoken English
  • Self-motivated

Work Experience

We are resuming our Work Experience programme in 2024.

Our Work Experience programme is held over the summer months (June – September) for two weeks at a time for law graduates only and is unpaid. We are unable to offer work experience for those of school age.
